The Fort Bragg Unified School District (FBUSD) is located along the beautiful rugged Mendocino Coast on scenic Highway One, halfway between San Francisco and Eureka. The population of the City of Fort Bragg is about 6500 but the town serves as the commerce center for some 27,000 coastal residents. Many families relocate to Fort Bragg to enjoy the security and peaceful environment offered by residence étudiante bordeaux in this small coastal community.

Our schools offer a wide variety of programs to encourage academic learning and achievement. Two of our schools, Fort Bragg High and Fort Bragg Middle have been recognized as California Distinguished Schools. The school district operates a comprehensive K-12 system of approximately 1650 students.

ACADEMICS At every level we strive for small class size and quality programs throughout the district. We provide a comprehensive reading and math program in grades K-5, moving to a departmentalized approach in the middle and high school years. This solid foundation of a challenging academic course of study and support programs leads to a complete college preparatory curriculum, honors, and advanced placement classes.

THE ARTS Aspiring instrumentalists, vocalists, thespians and artists are provided opportunities to participate, develop their skills, and will find satisfaction in our schools. Performances are held throughout the year to showcase music and theatrical talent. Students gain valuable experience by participating in regional and state arts competitions.

SPORTS We offer a full range of varsity sports for male and female athletes at the high school level and a strong competitive program for the middle school. Our students compete in football, soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball. softball, cross country, track, tennis, wrestling and golf teams as part of the North Coast Section of the California Interscholastic Federation.

STAFF We are fortunate to have a dedicated and appropriately credentialed staff qualified to teach in their content areas. Our teachers are evaluated on a regular basis: tenured teachers every two years, new or probationary teachers every year. Each school is governed by a Leadership Team, who in conjunction with their School Site Councils coordinate programs and services to meet the academic and social needs for all students.

SAFETY We have a formal discipline policy and safe school plans for all schools to ensure a quality learning environment. Our students enjoy the benefit of a "small town" environment in which to live and play. Our basic mission is to prepare students to be responsible, ethical, and productive citizens.
